Prior to its transformation, it was water.
After its transformation, it was wine.
Prior to his transformation, he couldn’t walk.
After his transformation, he could walk.
Prior to his transformation, he was blind.
After his transformation, he could see.
Prior to their transformation, they had leprosy.
After their transformation, they were healed of their leprosy.
Prior to his transformation, Lazarus was dead.
After his transformation, he was alive.
Everything Jesus accomplished was supported by evidence that it was accomplished. If that man were to have remain seated and unable to stand after Jesus said “take up your bed and walk”, there would be no evidence that Jesus accomplished what was actually accomplished.
In the life of a believer, there is no more transformative of an event than their salvation from sin. Though repentance is not a prerequisite to that salvation, it is absolutely and inarguably the evidence of that transformation. You cannot have one without the other.
So yes, repentance is required. Fortunately, God gives those who believe the will and the power to do what is required!
